Time Estimate: Varies; 2.4 miles took about an hour leisurely
Skill Level: Beginner
Water Type: Lake
Directions: Big Bear Marina

Technically you are only supposed to launch from Big Bear Marina if you’re renting a board from them, but there is plenty of shore around the Marina with a gradual decline into the water that is great for launching! Parking at the Marina is free.
This end of the lake is much less windy than the northern side of the lake, especially if you’re out before 8:30 am when I noticed the wind tends to pick up. From Big Bear Marina, I headed right (going east) and paddled towards one of the other bigger marinas (Pine Knot Marina). Going around the Marina you’ll pass Rotary Pine Knott Park, the closest beach to The Village.
Continue around the Marina and you’ll find a bay to paddle around, with views of Meadows and large log cabin homes. This is a really pretty area and very peaceful in the morning.
